TOWN BOARD Meeting Minutes

Marion Court Room

Monday September 23, 2024

A Town Board meeting of the Town of Marion, Wayne County, NY was held on Monday September 23, 2024 in the Marion Court Room.

Supervisor Johnson called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm with a roll call done by Kimberly Williams, Deputy Clerk of the Board.

  • Ronald Lonneville, Councilman
  • Margi Taber, Councilwoman

Supervisor Johnson asked everyone to stand and give the Pledge of Allegiance.

Budget Workshop:

The Town Board discussed the 2025 budget for the Town of Marion until 6:34 pm.

Public Hearing:

Utilize Contingency Funds to Fund Electric Upgrades in the Court/Meeting Room

The public hearing was opened at 6:35 pm and the legal notice was read by Kimberly Williams, Deputy Clerk of the Board. Supervisor Johnson asked three times if anyone had any questions or concerns. One citizen did ask for more details on the work being done. Clarification was described as finishing the electrical upgrades such as lighting and the electrical panel box.

The public hearing was then closed on a motion from Councilwoman Herman and seconded by Councilman Cramer at 6:36 pm with all ayes from the Town Board.

Acknowledgement:

Alexandria Compton from Girl Scout Troop 61072 was recognized as the recipient of the Girl Scout Bronze award for her Pollinator Garden project at the Marion Library.

Discussion:

  • The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board gave a presentation about their mission, current concerns and future goals and initiatives.
  • Amendment to Local Law status

Correspondence:

  • ‘Thank You’ e-mail from Melanie Eisenberg to Heidi Levan and Tim Boerman concerning the Marion Cemetery.
  • Letter from Dept. of Health – Water Supply Inspection

Resolution #9172024 Utilize Contingency Funds and Unappropriated fund balance to Fund Electric Upgrades in the Court/Meeting Room

On a motion from Councilman Lonneville and seconded by Councilman Cramer

ADOPTED: Ayes 5

Nays 0

The following resolution was approved.

WHEREAS, we are in the process of upgrading the electric in the court/meeting room; and

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board approves the utilization of contingency funds and unappropriated fund balance to pay for the electrical upgrades in the Court/Meeting Room; and

BE IT RESOLVED, the amount is not to exceed $6,580.00; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the amount is to be expensed as follows:

  • $5,000.00 from account #16204.01.000.042 from contingency account
  • $1,580.00 from account #16204.01.000.042 from unappropriated fund balance

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Marion Town Board directs the Clerk of the Board to give a copy of this resolution to Shores Electric and the Principal Account Clerk.

Citizen Comments:

Three attendees spoke on a variety of topics.

With no further business, on a motion by Councilman Cramer and seconded by Councilwoman Taber, Supervisor Johnson closed the meeting at 7:26 pm.
